Michiel van Alem

Michiel van Alem, age 99, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday morning, November 29, 2015. He was born in Kessel NB, Netherlands on August 18, 1916, son of the late Machiel and Johanna (van Hoorn) van Alem. On May 3, 1945, Giel married Elisabeth “Beth” van Lith; preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by three children: Hanneke (Mich) Steenbekkers of Darboy; Sjaan (Tonny) Lagarde of Brillion; and Hans (Lori) van Alem of Little Chute; five grandchildren: Annemie Steenbekkers, Jorrit (Jessi) Steenbekkers, Marc van den Berg, Michael (Erika) Lagarde, and Terry Lagarde; seven great-grandchildren: Calli, Phillip, Willem, Reilly, and Elliot Steenbekkers, and Quinty and Chloë van den Berg; two brothers-in-law: Albert van Lith and Ans van Lith; and a sister-in-law: Korrie van Lith. Giel was preceded in death by his parents, a son Johannes and by several brothers and sisters.

The funeral liturgy for Giel will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning, December 5, 2015 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – HOLY ANGELS CHURCH, W5831 County Road KK in Darboy, with Fr. Robert Kollath officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery Kimberly. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
