Life Legacy
Geraldine M. Reiter, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Living Tree Estates surrounded by family and friends. Geraldine was born in Medford, WI on September 27, 1925 to the late Edgar and Ruth (Reid) Purdy. On September 7, 1946 Geraldine was united in marriage to Louis “Mickey” Reiter in Stetsonville, WI. Louis preceded her in death on May 27, 2006, after spending 60 wonderful years together. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Ronald and James, a brother Richard Purdy, and sister Virginia Ertl.
Our mother was blessed to have 11 children and a loving husband. Truly her cup runneth over. Growing up on a farm she loved neighborhood gatherings and barn dancing. Her family and faith in God populated her life. A spiritual person who understood that truth, compassion, and love was the message Jesus wants all of us to know. We’ll always remember the large family gatherings at suppertime and how all of our cups were filled with…Love.
Geraldine is survived by her six sons: Gary (Charlene), Iola, Steven, Appleton, Michael (Susan), Randall (Jeanne), David, all of Neenah, and Thomas Reiter, of Sherwood; three daughters: Ellen (Ted) Henson, Onalaska, TX, Cindy (David) Van Linn, Menasha, and Cheryl (Dave) Thomas, Frisco, TX; 21 grandchildren: Jeff, Derek (Keeley)
Brittney (Derek), Crystal, Erica (Ron) Kimberly, Stacy (Ben), Jim (Tiffany), John, Jenna, Matthew (Katie), Eric, Rachel, Mitchell, Clark, Natasha, Alaina, Lindsey, Nick, Alex, and Hailey; 8 great-grandchildren: Dane, Corbin, Brei, Taylor, Austin, James, Benjamin, and Ella; two brothers: Lee (Cathy) Purdy, Verona, WI and Dean (Cheri) Purdy, Medford; four sisters: Marilyn Hosking, Sauk City WI, Lynn (Tom) Young, Middleton WI, Jeannette (Jim) Koppa, Seattle WA, and Nancy (Gil) Martinez, Verona WI, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Funeral Service for Geraldine will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home, 312 Milwaukee Street, Menasha, with Pastor Rich Engle officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Resthaven Cemetery, Menasha. A memorial fund has been established in Geraldine’s name for St. Joseph Food Pantry.
Geraldine’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and caregivers at Living Tree Estates and Affinity Hospice for all their wonderful care and support.
